FARMS AND BARNS

FARMS AND BARNS

We will be finishing up our theme "Farms and barns" by the end of the month. So far this month, the children have had fun; making doe letters, making butter, playing farm games like "farmer in the dell" and "mulberry bush". We have made farm animal books and postcards will be going home today of the farms they would like to have!

As CHRISTMAS approaches we have been singing Christmas songs and learning dances to "UP ON THE HOUSE TOP" AND "JINGLE BELL ROCK". They are also learning the lyrics to "RUDOLF" AND "SANTA CLAUS IS COMING TO TOWN". All the children have been very good so far; Santa better have some good stuff for this group of children!

Newsletter will be in their folders today explaining the Christmas party.

Reminder: we are closed 12/24 and 12/31

Farms and Barns

We had a fun week beginning our new theme "farms and barns" Our first farm animal was the chicken. They learned about roosters, hens, eggs and chicks. They also learned about sun rises and sun sets. Francis was the "rooster" for the week that had the special job of "cockadoodle-dooing" when he saw the sun raise. We made chicken and rooster masks, counted eggs, played with corn meal in the sensory table and cracked an egg open to see and feel what was inside. We learned the chicken dance and also a rooster dance to not leave out the boy chickens!

This week we will finish learning about chickens and learn about planting seeds.

Color of the week: red

Shape: triangle

Letter of the week: Cc

Numbers of the week: 3 and 13
