In the Orchard

Our official school year begins tomorrow!! Our main theme for the next 2 months will be IN THE ORCHARD.   We will begin by learning the parts of a tree and apples of course!! We will be going apple picking at the end of the month!!

We will also be incorporating smaller themes. This months smaller them will be friends and feelings. We usually work in this theme throughout the year. Preschoolers need to learn about their own feelings and emotions before they can feel empathy for other people.

Our parent-teacher communication books will again start going home daily. Please remember to review this book to find out about your child's day.  There is also a space where you can write notes to us.  

Breakfast will now be served at 8:00am-8:30am. Children going to school will be offered lunch at 10:30.

We will offer a light snack, usually fruit also at 10:30 this year.( for children not attending school. )

CIRCLE-TIME WILL BE AT 9:30am.

FIELD TRIP UPDATE FOR THE WEEK OF AUGUST 5TH-9TH

The field trip link has been updated for the current week!  I also finally have a date for our LIQUID PLANET TRIP!!  I HAVE PURCHASED A NEW COMPUTER AND I'M STILL TRYING TO FIGURE IT OUT BUT I HAVEN'T HAD FREE TIME.

My usb port on my new computer keep getting power surges so I have not been able to upload any great photos of our wonderful group of kids.  Hopefully by the end of the week I will be able to fix this problem.

Reminder: Ms Melissa, Ms Chrissy, Ms Michaela will all be on vacation the week of August 12-16th.  A select group of parents were giving notices a month ago about this and requested not to bring your child/children this week.  Ms. Misty will be filling in now so if you need childcare this week and were giving a notice; please see ms. Amanda. ( Checks for this week of childcare for the children giving notices need to be written out to Ms. Misty.) 

Field trips this week

It looks like our field trips for tomorrow will need to be canceled, do to the scheduled weather.  Thursday trip should go on as planned.   Please make sureto sign permission form or initial and date each trip.  Also please make sure to check the field trip link on the right for items needed.

We will be having field trips again this week on Tuesday and Thursday.  Please be aware that thursdays departure time will be 9:00am.  

Reading camp kids:  please let me know if you would prefer for your child to go to school on Thursday and I will provide a teacher to be here at 12:00.

I have decided to go ahead with our field trip today . We will be leaving at 9:00 and returning after lunch. Thunderstorms are forecasted for this afternoon. Please sign and date orange permission form.

JULY FIELD TRIPS

Field trips for next week are posted in the field trips link on the right hand side of this page.

 

Some things to note:

 

Tie die shirts must be worn on all field trips so if your child wears their shirt home please put on your child the day of the trip

1. Liquid planet still has not confirmed a new date for us
2. All trips for the month of July will be on Tuesday and Thursday
3. Please let us know if you do not want your child to attend our water trips on Thursdays and we will arrange for a teacher to remain back at the Dayschool
4. Every Thursday we will be doing a swimming trip to a state park throughout the summer(except week of August 12,ms. Melissa's vaca)
5. Please sign field trip permission forms and go over the items needed for each trip
6. If your child does not attend on a particular day, you are welcome to join us!
7. The oldest children after this week will have the option to go to the beach from 12:30-4:30 with Ms. Melissa and Michaela every Tuesday.  Ice cream truck visit will be an option
8. Youngest group will attend a playground/park every Tuesday morning

Liquid planet postponed due to weather

I will need to reschedule our trip to the water park today. Forecast for rain is 60% along with thunderstorms. I will reschedule and post the date on Friday with the July trips planned.

Graduation party

The forecast is for rain and thunderstorms in the afternoon.

If this happens the graduation portion of party will need to be canceled due to lack of space indoors. I will still be having the animal show and sundae party with the kids. 

If this happens I am apologizing in advance. Please keep an eye on the rather and the sky, hopefully the party will go down as planned!

Summer themes

We have officially started our summer theme, DOWN BY THE SEA. This will be our theme throughout the summer along with the theme. LITTLE ARTIST. 

The children had a blast with out last theme PONDS. Their favorite song they learned was TINY TIM THE TURTLE! I will try to post them singing this song next Monday.  We always seem to have someone missing but hopefully it will work out.

We also worked on a mini them about plants and how they grow!! We planted wild grape seeds in our outdoor classroom in the woods and we also made three gardens in the yard!  We have a vegetable garden, raspberry and strawberry patch and sunflowers!!

Summer field trip list went home this week. I do not have any dates set because I am waiting for chaperone availability. 

Snack list for end if the year party will go up this Friday. Please review the previous post for the details about this party. Also let us know if you will be attending or not. 

Graduation again will be short and sweet this year. We are planning a talent show for our end of the summer party this year.  The children will sing songs from throughout the year and hopefully show you some dance moves. They will also get the opportunity to show us some individual acts of talent!!

COUNT DOWN TO SUMMER VACATION

 

 

We have had another great year!!  We had an exciting group of children who have kept us on our toes.  Being said, there was not much free time to make entries on our blog page. lol

 

 

We will be having an end of the year party June 24th.  We will be having an ice cream sundae party(kids vote)!  I will also be having a graduation for our graduates but this will be short and sweet because of the lively bunch of children who do not like to sit.  I always try to plan parties to fit all the children so all children have a memorable experience.  If you would like to attend our ice  cream party and the graduation all are welcome. 

 We will also be having an animal show coming to visit on June 24th.  The cost per student is $10.00.

Sign-up list will be posted on parent board this Friday.

Pleas see one of the teachers for a summer contract and to update your emergency contact form.  If their are not any changes, you will still need to intial and date the form.  New forms will be available for families that have moved.

 

We will also be passing out field trip plans for the month of June.  We will need chaperones for these trips to take place so if one of them looks fun and you would like to join us, that would be great.

Field trip itenary will be posted on this blog when the plans are confirmed and we have the adequate amount of chaperons.

Easter egg hunt reminder

Our annual Easter Egg hunt is this Thursday!! We are still accepting prize donations. Snack sign up list is posted on parent board. If your child does not attend on Thursday, you are welcome to switch a day or add an additional day.

We have another new addition born to our Over The Rainbow family. Photo will be added soon!!

Our new theme for April will be birds and eggs. The children will be learning all about birds; what they eat, how they grow, and also additional animals that one from eggs.

March News!

It has been a busy couple of weeks!!  The children have kept us happily busy with vacation field trips and most recently our Dr. Suess Day.

We are finishing up our theme unit, sights and sounds of winter and moving on to the sights a sounds of spring!!  We will also continue to work on our mini themes.  Our mini theme for next week is "My favorite stories.  Please have your child bring in their favorite book to share and we will do a fun activity with the book.  The older children are being encouraged to think up their own favorite craft or activity to share.  This will build their creativity and boast their confidence.

Our Easter egg Hunt and Party will be Thursday, March 27th.  We are accepting donations of candy and prizes for this event.  We will also be posting a snack list on our parent board.  If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask.  All  children who do not usually attend on this day are always welcome to switch a day for Thursday.  An extra day may also be added.


Finally as the warmer weather arrives please make sure your child has an extra set of clothes daily.  DONT FORGET THE SOCKS.  I also highly encourage the children to wear snowpants due to the access of mud.

Little Abigail was born!!

Sabrina's baby sister Abigail arrived on Friday during the blizzard. We can hardly wait to welcome her into our Over the Rainbow family!!

Storm update.

Due to the blizzard advisory, we will be closing at 2:00 pm. Also please let us know if your child will be coming tomorrow so we will have correct teacher ratios.

Cookie theme

We have started a cookie theme to go along with our sights and sounds of winter. We will also be reviewing our friendship theme and what it takes to be a good friend.

Valentine class list is hanging on the parent board. Please take a copy.

It's a blizzard!!

Please keep informed about a possible early closing due to the storm coming tomorrow. We may have to close at 3:30 or even earlier if the weather forecasters are correct. We will give an exact time at the end of the day.

January sights and sounds of winter

It has been a very busy winter. The children have kept us busy having lots of fun!! I will try to find time to post every Wednesday to keep all informed.

We finally have gotten a bit of sledding in!! I will post some photos later on Facebook of our sledding fun. The children have also enjoyed our weekly walks in the woods. We found lots of animals tracks to help us learn our theme!! Unfortunately we were not able to take our walk today and build our snowman for the animals. We are going to build a snowman to feed the animals so any birdseed you have hanging around you may send in. We do have to wait now for the next snow fall to make our snowman.

Our valentines party will be on February 14. I will send home a class list this Friday. I will also post a party snack list for the day. We have chicken nuggets from Andrea from our last party!!. Candy treats can be sent in.

The k-under will be sending home post cards and emails if we have your email. If we don't have your email and would like to receive an email, please write it in your child's communication book.

Finally, a gently reminder that we will be closed for Presidents' Day. This is a public school day. We elected to remain open for Martin Luther king day because a majority of our parents had to work this day.

If you have not signed the permission slip for your child to participate in sledding please sign it. This form is located on the parent board.

Ms Melissa has a new cell phone. Please call the house phone if you need to get in touch with her.

Reminder: k- under will be taking walks in the woods every Wednesday. Please arrive by 9:00 and dress your child in weather appropriate gear. Send your child's school clothes and we will have them change after our walk.
