Rainforest/ End of the year Summer News
It has been a while since my last post. Sorry, but a lot of changes and maintance. I am up for relicensing so I have been reviewing my records and making sure things are set in the little free time that I have. As most of you know, ms. Amanda is now full time. She has been busy doing NAAC classes with me. We have also been blessed with Amanda's sister Chrissy for the summer months.
Two of our close "family" friends are going to be moving soon. (clodagh and jayden)We will have a goodbye party the same day as our graduation. We will be doing this event June 13th after school. If your child does not usually attend or return to school this day we would really love them to come back. We will be having a little preschool graduation for our graduates and we will be having an ice cream party.
We are continuing our rainforest theme through the end of the school year. The children have learned a great deal about the rainforest. We started with the layers of the tropical amazon rainforest and our continuing with the different animals of the this particular rainforest. Our favorite animals soo far are the jaguar and the pink dolphin. Hopefully this week we will be able to upload some fun videos of us roaring like a jaguar!
We have finished the entire alphabet and our numbers 1-20. Nicholas and Aubrey are reading easy readers!!! Way to go!! Val and clodagh have learned all their phonics and are sounding out 3 and 4 letter words. Jay-den and Jonah have learned how to write their names. Our youngest pre-k's jojo and cam and Caleb have learned their colors, shapes and some of the letters in their names. Joe and cam are also diaper graduates!!! All three are learning to draw shapes and write their names..
We have had a great year of learning. This has been a great year and I have been blessed to be a part of your children's
Our littlest addition has begun to crawl and pull herself up!! She is always happy and cheerful.
Our after school children have been diligently doing their homework and helping us out with the younger ones in our group. They have made a fort in the woods and have been having fun playing kickball and whiffle ball.
I have planned our June field trips.
Mosley pines
Frog pond
Liquid planet
Seabrook beach and dunlaps
Sawyer park and twin lanterns
Amesbury park and hoggies
Look for your child's calendar and please sign your child's permission slip. All money for these field trips are do when you sign the form. Our toddlers and our baby will not be attending most of these field trips due to chaperone availability. Most of our field trips will be on Monday's and wednesday's throughout the summer.

March news
We had fun the month of February learning about keeping our teeth clean. A special thanks to Caden's Mom for the toothbrushes, floss and toothpaste. Please remember to pass in the teeth cleaning charts to receive a prize. Remember it is okay if days are missing, effort only is needed for the prize.
We also had fun making a post office out of a refrigerator box. Unfortunately these photo's were lost due to a camera malfunction in Mexico. We practiced our addresses and learned how to address an envelope. We took turns be the post officers and the mail delivery people. Our youngest friends just wanted to play "big scary monster" in our post office. We will be turning our box into a doctors office and a vet during this month.
Our Pre-K's and kindergartners have been working hard on their sight words and pre reading skills! We finished our rhyming unit and they are all sounding out 3 letter words. WE also have had two new friends join us this past month. Olivia is "our new baby" the children all adore her. Caleb is our new playmate. Joe and Cam like to follow him around and Bryn has decided he is her new "boyfriend" Joe and Cam aren't too happy about this!!lol
On Tuesday we celebrated read across America day in celebration of Dr. Seuss's birthday. We made green eggs and ham for breakfast. The children whom ate the green eggs all received a prize. All the children brave enough to try them received a piece of candy.(scrambled eggs with food coloring) Ms. Melissa painted all the children up like cats and we enjoyed reading DR. Seuss books all week.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Happy new year to all! I hope all had a wonderful holiday. Now that the holidays are over we will be getting back into our curriculum.
With our homework calendar not doing so well, I decided to send home a family homework assignment this month once a week. I will also be sending home the monthly book list. Again, please fill the books you read with your child throughout the month and how many times you read it. At the end of the month, all children who return this sheet will get a special treat. I decided at the end of this month, the children who do their homework and book list will get a trip to McDonald's or pizza hut! I know we all have busy lives, but 5 minutes before bed is all it takes to give your child a head start. Studies have shone that children who are read to are successful in school.
The letters of the month are Ii and Gg and a review of Ss. The numbers will be 4, 5, 14, and 15. Your child may bring in any objects for show and tell that correspond with these. No random toys may be shone at show and tell. The only exception is the toddlers. They may bring in items of a certain color.
Hopefully within the next week or two, we will be getting some snow. Please make sure your child has all the appropriate gear. We will still go outside daily, even if only for a few minutes. We will be sledding daily when available. Please make sure your child's hat fits under his/her helmet so they can go sledding. A lot of children have outgrown their helmets. Please check your child's helmet and supply a thin hat to wear under the helmet. Also insulated mittens work best in keeping the fingers warm in the snow; if the mittens are big enough they can also wear a thin pair of gloves under to help keep their hands warm. Snow pants need to fit tight over their boots or the snow gets inside their boots and causes cold legs and toes.
recycle items needed:
odd socks
large boxes
buttons
empty spice jars

| Jayden and the gang playing in a leaf pile Jack made for us! THANKS JACK! |
Our Thanksgiving feast was a blast. The children did a great job creating a balanced diet; of course they had chicken nuggets, mac & cheese and tator tots! They also included corn, apple pie, cranberry sauce, corn bread and some grapes! Plenty of deserts to choose from too! We had apple pie, brownies, M & M cookies, chocolate chip cookies and some Popsicles.
Our Turkey wobble danced has been uploaded to YOUTUBE. I will also try to post it on this blog. I recorded it twice; not sure which version you might like.
Our themes for December will be hibernation and family traditions. The children will be making
Ornaments, writing letters to Santa and of course learning a Holiday dance!
Many more fun videos were added to our YOUTUBE website. Type in millisaf
